About Shoko Festival
Shoko Festival is Zimbabwe’s biggest festival of urban culture. The vibrant 2016 edition of the festival saw over 10,000 young people attending the inspiring 3 day event of hip hop, comedy, live music and much more. The overall objective of Shoko Festival is to create an artistic platform that contributes to the development of young people in Zimbabwe through, promoting innovative urban culture, music and art, creating space for the free expression and artistic development of young people, providing youth with essential skills trainings and opportunities to help prepare them for various careers in the arts industry and pioneering a cutting edge movement in digital media and technology.

Main Focus of Intern: Learning how to coordinate a festival with
all its different elements and processes.
The Shoko Intern will be working closely with the Festival
Coordinator and learning all the essential skills of event and festival
planning. It is very important that the candidate is sharp minded and thinks
quickly on their feet. They must be well spoken, articulate and able to
communicate effectively and diplomatically with people of varying backgrounds,
as their role requires them to represent the Shoko Brand. They should welcome
the challenge of learning new things and a good listener who can take direction
well is very vital for this position. The candidate must have a pleasant
temperament with a go getter attitude that thrives under pressure, as the
closer to the festival, the more pressurized the work becomes. Being able to
work within the deadlines provided is necessary and so is punctuality. An
intelligent, engaged, energetic young person who seeks to expand their skills
set and knowledge base, will do well in this position. NB: The intern must have
access to a laptop.
Essential Duties
Managing the Coordinator’s diary; Assisting with Artists; Assisting with the schools program and mobilizing participants; Assisting with festival workshops and mobilizising participants; Social Media Management; Collecting stats and information for the Coordinator’s reports; Any other tasks the Coordinator requires assistance in.
