Five (5) Research Nurses: UZ-UCSF Collaborative Research Programme

UZ-UCSF Collaborative Research Programme is seeking suitably trained, competent, talented, multi-tasking and qualified Research Nurses to take part in clinical research for the UZ-UCSF Project. Applicants will be based at our Clinic in Harare.
Qualifications and attributes
Diploma or degree in nursing and/or midwifery; Applicant must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical research and tuberculosis management (experience working in an MDR TB clinic will be am added advantage); Experience of managing confidential patient records; Experience in discussing clinical and sometimes sensitive subjects with potential and actual participants, including Tuberculosis transmission and treatment setting and general information on HIV and ART management; Excellent oral and written communication skills (Shona and English); Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
Duties and responsibilities
Carry out nursing duties according to the protocol; Ensure proper screening, enrollment and follow up of study participants; Perform physical examinations of study participants; Collect study specimens according to the study protocol guidelines, ensuring privacy, comfort and safety of the participants; Perform and maintain proper documentation of all study procedures; Instructing participants on how to use study products correctly; Maintain professional conduct to ensure a high standard of nursing care; Any other duties as assigned by the Clinic Manager

Type of Appointment: Special Short Term, 6 months with possibility of extension Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and under the direct supervision of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing necessary support for the implementation of the project. Strengthening Human Rights Monitoring and Protection in Zimbabwe.
Core functions/responsibilities
Provide support on the implementation of citizen awareness raising workshops on human rights centered development and advocacy; Provide support organizing training and capacity building activities about Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and human rights programming, monitoring and reporting in coordination with the Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator; Assist in upgrading the established web-based information management system; including the implementation of an agreed data governance framework for protection organizations; Assist in carrying out data collection and registration of mobile and vulnerable populations; Provide support for timely provision of emergency relief assistance to new displacements and follow up on post assistance monitoring exercises; Assist in preparing bilateral agreements, monitoring and reporting of financial and operational activities of Implementing Partner (IPs) in their areas of responsibility and provide technical support where and when necessary; Undertake duty travel throughout the country when and where necessary and produce field reports; Perform such other duties as assigned.
Desired qualifications (education, experience and competencies)
University degree, preferably in Social Science, International Relations, or an equivalent combination of training and experience; Management experience necessary; At least 2 years of professional working experience preferably with an international organization, UN agency or NGO; Experience liaising with government authorities, other national/international institutions and NGOs; Previous experience working on humanitarian activities; High level of computer literacy (MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, SPSS, Arc GIS).
