International Medical Corps (IMC) is a global humanitarian,
non-profit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering
through health care training and relief and development programs. IMCs’ mission
is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related
activities that build local capacity is undeserved communities worldwide. IMC
has worked in Zimbabwe since 2009.
IMC is seeking a qualified candidate for a USAID-funded
Development Food Assistance Program (DFAP). The program’s strategic objectives
are: Improved household access to, and availability of food; Communities made
more resilient to shocks; Nutrition and health among pregnant and lactating
females, boys and girls under 2 improved
The District Nutrition Officer will contribute to the strategic
objective related to health and nutrition and implement the program activities
at district level. Expected responsibilities will include but are not limited
to: the establishment and support to care groups at community level; supporting
the provision of conditional food rations to Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLW)
and children under 2 and supporting the integration of nutrition into health
care services amongst health centres and community level health workers. These
activities will incorporate the tenets of the first 1,000 days approach
Qualifications
The candidate should have at least a first degree in Nutrition or Health Promotion. Knowledge of community health practices desirable. The ability to speak isiNdebele is a MUST.
