In pursuance of this vision, OSISA‘s mission is to initiate and support programmes working towards open society ideals and to advocate for these ideals in southern Africa. Established in 1997, OSISA works in 10 southern Africa countries: Angola, Botswana, DRC, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. OSISA works differently in each of these ten countries, according to local conditions.
OSISA is part of a network of autonomous Open Society Foundations, established by George Soros, located in Eastern and Central Europe, the former Soviet Union, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the US.
Role overview
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Senior Finance Officer, the Finance Officer provides leadership in the execution of financial procedures and processes in the organisation ensuring effective and transparent utilization of financial resources and the integrity of financial reporting. The Finance Officer works in close collaboration with all the departments in the operations unit and the finance teams in the Country Offices and OSISA HQ staff in resolving finance-related issues. The Finance Officer will be risk averse and will liaise with the Senior Finance Officer in identifying, managing and eliminating risks in the foundation.
Key responsibilities
Oversee OSISA grantees’ financial documentation and payments in the foundations grant management and finance system and process payments to grantees; Assist with the verification of the accuracy and integrity of all creditors and service providers’ information captured in the foundations and the electronic banking module; Assist with the timely payment of OSISA's creditors and service providers; Ensuring that all statutory payments are made both accurately and within the prescribed time limits in order to avoid penalties and interest; Assist in the preparation of budget and variance reports for the Senior Finance Officer on a monthly basis; Monitor the foundations cash position to ensure sufficient funds are on hand to enable the foundation to meet its commitments within agreed terms; Be involved in the foundations budgeting process including the preparation and submission of the annual budget to the budget office in New York in the prescribed format and within the agreed deadline; Produce monthly financial reports reflecting budget versus actual expenditure (including variance reports) to the OSISA executive and to the finance office in Budapest; Assist in the preparation of finance and variance reports for submission to the quarterly meeting of the OSISA board; Ensure that all monthly processing and reconciliations are carried out accurately and within the monthly accounting timetable; Prepare standalone year-end financial statements and consolidated year-end financial statements which incorporate the Johannesburg, Angola and DRC offices; Provide input to the drafting of the audit time table and assist in resolving audit queries; Process salary payments; Reconcile monthly payroll reports; Ensure that OSISA does not suffer any reputational risk as a result of any actions made or decisions taken by the finance officer

Qualifications
B Com degree majoring in Accounting or equivalent qualification in finance; The candidate should have a minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience in the finance section of an international or regional NGO or corporate or financial services company.

Transport Officer: Camfed

Job purpose
As Transport Officer, guided by Camfed‘s organisational policies and procedures, you are responsible for maintaining and driving the organisation’s vehicles to authorized destinations in and around designated districts.
Specific accountabilities
Promotion, implementation, observance and adherence with the Camfed Child Protection Policy in all operations: national, district, provincial and regional at all times; Drive staff and external stakeholders to various destinations as approved by Line Manager in a safe and responsible manner ensuring appropriate and timely services; Comply and observe all driving and highway codes at all times; Exhibit highest sense of professionalism, respect and decorum on the job at all times
Major duties and responsibilities
Ensure provision of reliable and secure driving services by driving Camfed vehicles for the transport of authorised personnel and all office and district errands; Observe and ensure all passengers adhere to policies and guidelines on the use of the organisation vehicles (e.g. use of seat belts, using vehicle only for official assignments, parking of assigned vehicle at base latest 6pm or with express permission of Line Manager); Check for first aid kit and contents to ensure availability before travel; Ensure that the assigned vehicle is in proper and safe condition by carrying out routine checks prior to use or travel, and report any damage or mechanical malfunctions to Line Manager; Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles at all times; Ensure cost-savings through proper use by recording and maintaining mileage logs and vehicle history records; Only licensed or Insurance cleared staff allowed to drive organisation vehicle; Ensure that the assigned vehicle keys are placed at designated place after work; Report immediately to Line Manager any incidents including accidents, issues with passengers in the vehicle, change of routes due to bad weather, security and road condition etc; Timely submission of weekly reports at the end of the week to Line Manager; Participate as a Camfed staff member in provincial, national, regional and International engagements as requested; Other duties as assigned from time to time.
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications and experience: Clean Class 4 Driver’s Licence; Well organized, ability to work within team; Demonstrate an ability to work with children, women and men; Experience of travel in rural districts
