Duties and Responsibilities
Set up in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications
Assess customer requirements and service standards and ensure that these are met
Specify quality requirements of raw materials with suppliers
Contribute to the development and implementation standards for health and safety
Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with standards at both national and international level
Record, analyze and distribute relevant statistical information with a view to enhancing system and product quality.
Develop quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses; identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, take corrective actions and set up verification procedures.
Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence as well as determining operational and performance qualification.
Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods.
Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.
Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Ensure all legal standards are met
Communicate with external quality assurance stakeholders during on-site inspections
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
At least 5 years’ experience as a Quality Assurance Manager or relevant role
Thorough knowledge of methodologies of quality assurance and standards
Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods
Good knowledge of MS Office and databases
Outstanding communication skills
Great attention to detail and a results driven approach
Post Grad qualification in Operations Management or relevant field
Certification of quality control is a strong advantage (ISO 9001 etc.)

Engineer: Community Technology Development Organisation

Community Technology Development Organisation (CTDO) formerly Community Technology Development Trust (CTDT) seeks to hire qualified and experienced person to immediately take up the position of Engineer.
General duties
The primary role of the Food For Assets (FFA) Engineer is to provide technical designs, supervision of construction, monitoring and producing quality reports of the project. Based in Rushinga, the engineer will be responsible for supervising small dam construction/dip tank construction. He/she will recommend works at all FFA sites and will draw up technical plans to be followed. He/she will ensure the safe, timely and well-supervised completion of projects. He or she will be guided by the project guidelines.
Specific tasks
Identify and plan both short and long term FFA rehabilitation/Construction interventions for FFA; Participate in designing of FFA projects and supervise the construction of such projects to ensure that they are built according to carefully drafted plans; Develop bill of quantities for all project sites in the district and draw up a material utilisation plan for all materials to be used on each FFA site; Approve technical completion of physical works on each FFA site and recommend appropriate payment; Ensure that all projects implemented are of approved engineering standards; Undertaking technical and feasibility studies and site investigations, EIA’s, viability, sustainability and technical feasibility studies on all projects to all FFA sites identified by the communities and recommended by the Rural District Council; Assessing the potential risks of specific projects, as well as undertaking risk management in specialist roles; Supervising and visiting communities on site and advising on civil engineering issues; Communicating and liaising effectively with colleagues and government specialists, local authorities’ representatives and the district administrator’s office; Thinking both creatively and logically to resolve design and development problems; Managing change, about the design, and identifying, formalizing and notifying relevant parties of changes in the project; Using a range of design computer packages for designing projects and undertaking complex and repetitive calculations; Scheduling material and equipment purchases and delivery; Production of weekly reports.

Job description
Designing and implementation of monitoring and evaluation processes and frameworks to track delivery against set goals and objectives; Participate in the development of the M&E framework for the project; Coordinate and oversee the following M&E processes: Baseline survey, Annual crop assessment, sales assessment, end of project evaluation and other surveys; Management of relevant and appropriate data for an effective M & E system to be utilized in the monitoring of strengths, weaknesses and gaps in the existing approaches and methodologies; Management and analysis of data collected for assessment of project progress and areas of improvement; Develop and maintain updated databases for all project aspects; Oversee and review of monitoring and evaluation systems and activities; Develop and maintain linkages with service providers and other stakeholders for effective monitoring & evaluation; Organize stakeholder visits; Documenting project activities and generating periodic reports to guide in pursuing project and organizational mandate; Making creative and intuitive decisions regarding the production of established M & E reports; Generating project related research data to inform future programming; Attend meetings, conferences and workshops and make presentations; Develop various communication tools and publications showing project impact; Preparing relevant reports; Managing and appraising staff (regular follow-up visits) to ensure project activities are properly carried out; Provide regular updates to the director on project situations with regards to M & E and related project areas; Ensuring that all sub-activities are aligned to the organizational and project’s main goal; Developing models and innovative processes for organizational and communities’ benefit; Participating at various platforms at district, provincial and national level which are strategic in improving project performance and best practices; Reviewing project reports and ensuring that all planned activities, targets and results are outlined before onward submission to the donor; Carry out other activities that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
Up to 4 years’ experience as a monitoring and evaluation officer/assistant for a reputable community development organization focusing on sustainable agriculture and livelihoods; Solid experience in data entry (using CS Pro etc.), data analytics using SPSS, R or another package; Humble and trainable; Quantitative degree (Mathematics, Statistics, Agriculture Economics, modeling etc).
