Business Development Specialist: Local Organisation

The Business Development Specialist will head the fundraising, stakeholder relations and establish networks with alumni, existing and potential sponsors, partners and funders and important stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Create and implement an annual strategic fundraising development plan and strategy; Prepare and deliver strategic plans as it relates to donor retention and donor development; Play a leading role in identifying, cultivating and securing donors for the organisation for all programming activities; Cultivate, build/nurture, grow and maintain relationships with current and potential individual donors, corporations and foundations; Achieve the organizations fundraising goals and engage sponsors in ongoing service activities; Leverage key relationships and contacts within and outside of Zimbabwe to ensure meeting organisational revenue goals; Draft and oversee the development of funding proposals to help ensure proper submission; Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations strategy; Work with program staff to develop funding related projects; Facilitate the development of relationships with funders through presentations, personal meetings, regular communications, or arranging for meetings with the Executive Director and/or programme staff; Track and meet grant submission and reporting deadline.; Cultivate donors by producing specialised correspondences, preparing letters of acknowledgment, scheduling and attending in-person visits; Maintain donor and foundation records and ensure the accuracy and efficacy of the donor database; Create weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual fundraising reports that can be presented at board level.

Qualifications, skills and attributes
Bachelor’s degree (required), Master’s degree (a plus); Five-plus years’ experience in development sector; Strong network of corporate, private sector and civil society contacts; Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills; Strong business acumen skills; Good presentation skills; Strong communication and IT fluency; Creative talents and the ability to solve complex challenges; The ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines; Skill in prioritizing; Attention to detail; Excellent time management and organization; Proven track record of funded programs as a direct result of candidates input.

The UNHCR Representation Office in Harare, Zimbabwe is looking for an intern (graduate) who has commitment to refugee issues and a desire to development their skills and experience in programme management and humanitarian affairs. The candidates should be computer literate, have good numerical skills, organized and proactive with ability to maintain high level of confidentiality at all times. Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and attention to detail are essentials. The position is full time and unpaid.

Description on internship
Main function: Providing support to the programme unit-UNHCR representation in Zimbabwe
Duration: Six months (I June to 31 December 2017)
Location: Harare, Zimbabwe

Key duties and responsibilities 
Collects, registers and maintains information on project activities; Assists in record keeping and filing of all programme related documentation; Prepare status and progress reports, prepare tables and draft routine correspondence; Assist in preparing periodic and ad-hoc reports on operational activities for presentation; Prepare background material for use in discussions and briefing sessions; Undertake proper collection, monitoring and use of baselines, standards and indicators needed to measure and analyse programme performance, trends and target interventions; Review the implementation and performance of IPs agreements through appropriate physical monitoring to evaluate the projects by reviewing work plans, progress reports, budget, financial reports and expenditures. This may include field visits for specific monitoring and evaluation issues; Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge, skills, experience relevant for the positions
Graduate with a back ground in development studies, social studies, international relations, human rights or other relevant discipline; Computer skills (Word, excel and, PowerPoint); 
Project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills; Strong verbal communication and writing skills; Ability to work as a part of a team; Fluency in English.

Health Specialist: Catholic Organisation for Relief and Development Aid (Cordaid)

The Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ), through the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC), is implementing a Results Based Financing (RBF) Programme in partnership with Catholic Organisation for Relief and Development Aid (Cordaid) as the Project Implementation Entity (PIE) and with grant support from the World Bank (Health Sector Development Support Project - HSDSP). The project’s goal is “to increase coverage of quality maternal and child health interventions”. It started in July 2011 in two front-runner districts and is currently being implemented in 18 rural and 2 urban districts covering 405 health facilities.

The design of the project is anchored on three components: 1) Results-based contracts, 2) Management and capacity building, and 3) Monitoring and documentation. It is anticipated that through this project, both the supply and demand sides for health services, particularly maternal health, will be significantly improved contributing to the reduction in maternal and child mortality and morbidity. There is an increased focus on improving the quality of health services. MOHCC & Cordaid are seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Health Specialist as indicated below.

Main responsibilities 
The main responsibilities of the Health Specialist will include project management oversight, technical quality assurance support to the Cordaid team and to relevant MOHCC structures, monitoring the programme through analysis of routinely collected data and initiating appropriate improvements in Results Based Financing.

Purpose of the position 
The Health Expert’s primary task is to support the MOHCC in the implementation of Results Based Financing with emphasis to integrate RBF mechanism (s) into public health sector management systems and improve quality of services.

The Health Specialist is a key technical and management team member for Cordaid and will play a key role in strengthening the MOHCC’s Program Coordination Unit in RBF and health systems management.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities 
 Manage the planning and execution of key RBF functions including (purchasing, verification and reporting); Maintain a robust monitoring system in cooperation with the Data Analyst and Database Manager; Oversee data analysis and contribute to key technical and progress reports on RBF implementation by MOHCC; Based on guidance of Cordaid management and MOHCC PCU Coordinator, led follow up actions to address identified implementation bottlenecks and provide updates on progress to address implementation issues; Attend to capacity development needs at various levels (national, province, district, facility and community) associated with technical and policy issues in the area of improving quality of care with a focus on maternal and child health; Contribute to further development of the Continuous Quality Improvement intervention in close collaboration with the Quality Improvement Expert; Updating implementation tools including synthesis and dissemination of project performance results; Participate in key technical working groups/meetings on RBF at national level; Support MOHCC to operationalize a roadmap towards expanding the scope of RBF to other priority disease areas; Contribute to specific technical assistance missions supported by World Bank/MOHCC/Global Fund related to RBF; Participate in strategic planning and policy dialogue relating to RBF

In addition: 
Verification of quarterly invoices from contracted Provincial and District Health Executives; 
Any other duties as and when assigned by the PCU Coordinator or Cordaid Country Director

Required qualifications, experience and skills
Post graduate university degree with a specialization in Public Health, Epidemiology or Economics; Experience of at least five years in the field of health (and more in particular maternal and child health); Strong health data analysis, monitoring and evaluation skills; Experience in Results Based Financing is a strong asset; Good organizing skills; Discreet, honest, trustworthy (trusted), proactive, methodical, diplomatic, task-oriented and team player; Experience in working with the Government; Experience in preparing reports and presentations; Excellent oral and written English

Senior OVC Advisor: Save the Children International

Save the Children International PVO 03/2002 is the world’s leading independent organization for children. Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children, and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.

Save the Children’s Zimbabwe programme is inviting applications for the below positions in preparation for an anticipated USAID project providing support to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) in selected districts within Zimbabwe. This key project, Getting to ZERO, is a fiveyear program aimed to reduce HIV impact, vulnerability and risk, as well as increase high impact HIV services among orphans and vulnerable children and adolescents in targeted communities. The goal for this program is improved health, nutrition, psycho-social well-being and educational outcomes; and reduced abuse of children affected by HIV. The program seeks to advance ownership at the local level of a comprehensive, integrated, community-based AIDS response to mitigate the impact of HIV on orphans and vulnerable children.

These positions require experience in managing large scale USAID funded project(s) at a senior level, experience in OVC programming and are contingent on the issuance of USAID funding and the selection of applicants is subject to USAID approval.

Position summary
As a member of the senior leadership technical team, the Senior OVC Advisor will ensure technical excellence through contributions made to project implementation at the community level supporting vulnerable children and families. She/he will report directly to the Technical Director and will advise and support the project team in providing technical direction to project implementation and ensure the project meets stated goals, expected results and reporting requirements. This position will liaise closely with technical advisors from other sectors to ensure seamless quality programming. She/he will be knowledgeable about evidence-based and state-of-the-art OVC service delivery approaches. 
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Impact

The main responsibilities for the Senior OVC Advisor include
Advise project staff in the development and implementation of holistic, family-centered strategies, interventions and activities that address the needs of vulnerable children in a friendly manner, including their health, education psychosocial, protection and economic strengthening needs; Support efforts to ensure that the project engages children in all stages of the project to promote child participation, leadership and ensure that their perspectives are taken into consideration; Advise project team on strategies and activities addressing children and adolescents are evidence-based and in line with state-of-the-art, globally recognized best practices; as well as aligned with Zimbabwe’s National legislation and policies; Ensure the project addresses the needs of highly vulnerable sub-groups of children, such as adolescent girls, HIV positive children and children living with disabilities; Provide technical leadership on project specific, child–focused, and gender-sensitive strategies that promote equitable programming; Provide technical assistance in documenting and scaling up best practices; Support efforts to build capacity of staff, implementing partners, government counterparts, and other stakeholders in working in child-related services under the project; Contribute to work plans, quarterly and annual reports, financial reports, and other reports and papers summarizing project results and evidence.

Required background, experience, skills and behaviours
A Master’s Degree in social sciences, development studies or related field; At least eight years of experience implementing OVC programs in a development context, with five of these years in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably Zimbabwe. During this period, she/he should have been involved with social services and or public health project design, implementation, system strengthening, reporting and evaluation; Demonstrated state-of-the-art experience at a mid- or senior level in at least three of the following areas: child protection, household economic strengthening, social protection, education, health and nutrition including HIV/AIDS care and support; quality improvement; social service systems strengthening, including social services workforce; M&E; and operations research; Demonstrated experience in managing, coordinating and supervising a team working with local community organizations, families and communities; Demonstrated skills in project design, implementation and reporting, preferably for USG funded programs; Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, donors and other stakeholders, particularly at the sub-national level; Professional level of oral and written fluency in English language; Strong writing skills about program activities, outcomes and impact.
