General Description of the Role
Reporting to the Market Linkages Officer, the Agriculture Extension Officer for the Sugar Bean project is responsible for the direct implementation of a Netherlands Development Agency funded grant aimed at development of sustainable bean value chains for smallholders to increase food security in Zimbabwe through supporting program beneficiaries to grow seed and commercial sugar beans and ensure high yields

Project implementation coordinating activities at the ward level including delivering work according to the work plan and within the budget; Provision of agricultural technical support to the program beneficiaries ensuring project activities are achieved within agreed timeframes, budgets and according to GOAL’s standards and donor regulations; Improved participation by farmers in local markets for sugar beans ensuring that farmers follow proper and good agricultural practices for seed and commercial production of sugar beans; Provide support and supervision on daily project activities and reinforce extension services to farmers based on the key principles of Participatory Extension Approaches; Mobilise communities for the seed sugar beans production and commercial sugar beans production, registering and profiling all participating households; Organise and participate in all project training activities and workshops conducted in the area of operation; Distribute all project inputs to the project beneficiaries on time and project documents are filed properly; Facilitate program beneficiary’s own and peer review of performance; Participate in the collection of quantitative and qualitative data for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Person Specifications (Attributes and Qualifications)
The ideal incumbent should possess a minimum qualification of a Diploma in Agriculture specializing in crop production, horticulture and/or sugar bean production or equivalent; Bachelors’ Degree and experience in seed production desirable; At least 3 years proven experience of working in rural community in development programs within the international NGO context; Ability and willingness to ride a motorbike; Understanding of mainstreaming principles and experience of working on mainstreaming activities of Gender, HIV/AIDS and Child Protection; Confident presentation and facilitation skills, proven record in provision of trainings; Excellent interpersonal skills; Knowledge of Sphere and commitment to humanitarian principles; Proficiency in using standard Microsoft Office packages; Ability to work under pressure, with minimum supervision.

The Council for the Development of Social Science Research in
Africa (CODESRIA) invites applications from suitably qualified nationals of
African countries to fill the vacant position of Director of Administration and
Finance in its pan-African Secretariat located in Dakar, Senegal. This position
is one of the senior management posts in the Council and the successful
candidate will join a team of staff members functioning under the direct
supervision of the Executive Secretary of the Council.
Recognised as the premier centre on the continent for the
generation and dissemination of multidisciplinary social science and humanities
knowledge, CODESRIA has, over the years, undergone an exponential growth in
programmes, finances and membership. The Administration and Finance department
has, as its primary responsibility providing leadership in the development of
medium and long-term plans for the council, the overall management of the
administrative and financial affairs of the Council, including banking and
accounting services, the preparation of financial reports for submission to the
partners of the Council, budget monitoring and control, human resources (staff
recruitment, training, evaluation, discipline and welfare), protocol services,
the maintenance of the headquarters building, the monitoring of the physical
assets of the Council, the internal and external audits of the financial
statements and other accounts of the Council, and all aspects of the
procurement of goods and services for the use of the Council.
The Department is also involved in the implementation of a
long-term strategy for the financial stability and sustainability of the
Council, including developing the CODESRIA Endowment Fund.
Furthermore, the Director of Administration and Finance (DAF),
working in close collaboration with other staff, is responsible for preparing
the annual workplan of activities and budgets of the Council, and for
monitoring expenses and programme implementation. The successful candidate will
also be called upon to initiate, develop and apply new human resource
management tools, lend support in the implementation of an IT plan, contribute
to the organisation of donor conferences, and manage aspects of the Council’s
relations with the public administration services of the host country as may be
entrusted to her/him. In all, the candidate who will be chosen will be expected
to work towards the efficient and result-oriented administration of all aspects
of the mandate of the Council.

Have a sound university education in the field of business/financial administration, accounting and/or human resource management (an MBA or Masters in Finance and Administration will be an advantage) with at least five years post-graduation experience in a similar position; Hold a post-graduate professional qualification in accountancy or in a related field, and have a demonstrable knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in their current application; Have experience in fund management, preferably in a not-for-profit organisation; Be familiar with accounting and budgetary systems and software employed by international non-governmental organisations; Have a demonstrable capacity to initiate and supervise internal and external audit processes; Be conversant with the international research funding environment and the requirements of various funding agencies especially in terms of reporting; Be knowledgeable and skilled in the management of all aspects of personnel matters, bearing in mind that CODESRIA is a multi-cultural pan-African environment and is committed to the promotion of gender equality; Demonstrate a sound knowledge of procedures linked to the diplomatic immunities enjoyed by international organisations; Have a demonstrable knowledge of labour laws in an African context; Have a capacity to be innovative and forward-looking in the management of the administrative processes and procedures of an organisation like CODESRIA; Have good organizational and time management skills (highly desirable); Personal attributes should also include strong analytical skills and ability to formulate unique solutions based on knowledge and understanding of the challenges; Be strategic, innovative and creative thinker; planning and problem-solving in both short-term and long-term; results-driven; team player; inclusive, flexible, and sensitive to multi-culturalism; Have strong communication skills; be self-motivated; possessing the ability to lead and motivate a team is crucial; be a professional with high integrity and good stewardship of resources; and Be fluent in French or English and have a good working knowledge of the other language.

directly under the OVC Program Manager. The Communications Intern will mainly
be responsible for communications and marketing efforts for the Trust.
The main duties of the position
will be: Update and maintain the JF Kapnek Trust social media presence,
including development and scheduling of updates across several platforms
(Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.); Distribute and pitch
news releases, media alerts and other stories; Assist in the design of graphics
and other IEC material different programs; Update the JF Kapnek Trust website
as needed; Document activities in the field across multiple programs;
Collaborate with staff on new ideas, direction and venues for marketing and
communications; Adhere to ethical code in communications and publicity; Assist
with other responsibilities as needed
Qualifications and experience
required
Recently graduated with a Degree in Media Studies and Communication, Development Studies or any related technical field; Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space; An effective communicator, both written and oral; Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus; Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines; Enthusiasm for the mission of the JF Kapnek Trust and the community we serve; Professional demeanor (dress, presentation, etc.); Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams; Any exposure to OVC programs is a distinct added advantage
