Assistant Accountant: CeSHHAR Zimbabwe

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract
Under the guidance and supervision of the Accountant the Assistant Accountant will transactions are accurately reviewed for adequacy of supporting documents and correctness before posting in the system. Will be involved in month end processing and ensuring all ledgers and transit accounts are reconciled each month end. The Assistant Accountant will work in close association with the Financial Accountant and Finance Officer.
Key responsibilities
General ledger completeness and accuracy; Monthly management accounts, reconciliations and management reports; Assisting in the general implementation and monitoring of project accounting systems (e.g. Imprest System, Procurement system, financial systems) and policies; To assist in ensuring compliance with plans and offer advice where deviations are discovered; Debtors and creditors processing; Monthly bank reconciliations; Checking advance acquittals and reconciliations; Transaction posting; Checking cash flow balances before payment transmission; Any other duties as needed by the Project.
Required competencies
Good analytical skills; Financial Management skills; Proactive and highly organised; Ledger analysis
Qualifications & experience
A University Degree in Finance/Accounting and significant progress towards attaining a professional course; 5-6 years hands on experience with major Donors; Super user of the following packages (Pastel Evolution, Ms Excel, MS Word, Excel, etc); Ability to adapt to rapid changes and play a role in a dynamic team.

Key responsibilities
Provide direct counselling & therapeutic support to child survivors of abuse, gender based violence and those affected by HIV/AIDS; Work closely with the relevant government departments in following -up on reports received of child abuse and gender based violence, including home visits within the community using a case management approach; Conduct specialized group counselling services, including therapeutic and support groups; Work jointly with other stakeholders in ensuring effective child protection, GBV and HIV / AIDS programming, making referrals and networking; Set up and manage a child friendly information centre at the Drop In Centre; Maintain accurate records of services provided; submit regular reports on activities and statistics using the case management model; Raise awareness in the community on issues of child protection and gender based violence giving presentations and facilitating workshops; Support the organisations fundraising activities in the local community.
Qualifications & experience required
A degree in Social Work from a reputable institution; Up to date registration with the Council of Social Workers; Previous experience of individual counselling & working with the Police - VFU and justice systems; At least 2 years' experience of working with children, child protection and children's rights; At least 1 year experience in HIV/AIDS and / GBV programming is highly desirable; Written & spoken proficiency in English, Ndebele, Venda &/ or Shona; Strong networking and advocacy skills; Good analytical and writing skills as well as strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently; Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Clean Class 4 Driver's licence with at least 2 years driving experience; Previous experience in the NGO sector is an added advantage.

Study Doctor / Jaundice Study: Research Support Centre, University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences

The Neonatal Jaundice study is a Prospective Study of the Aetiology and Long-term Impact of Neonatal Hyper-bilirubinaemia in Infants in Zimbabwe. The scope of the work, as proposed in this study, will be to prospectively ascertain the incidence, aetiology and outcome of neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia within a defined urban population in Harare. The study will document antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal histories and clinical course and neurocognitive developmental outcomes of infants referred to a tertiary level hospital with jaundice. It is a study conducted by the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences, Department of Paediatrics and Child Health and funded by Gates Foundation.
Location: Harare
Level of Effort: 18%
Duration: 12 months (renewable annually)
Expected start date: 1 February 2018
Reporting Directly: Principal Investigator
Responsible for: Research study nurses and data manager
Qualifications and experience
Degree in Medicine + current open MDPCZ practicing license
At least 3 years post qualification experience
Competencies
Sound knowledge of responsible conduct of clinical trials (good clinical practice and research ethics), HIV and general practice Medicine and adolescent health as well as pediatric care.
Managerial Competencies
