Job description
Oversee all accounting financial matters, including maintenance of general ledger, balance sheets, payments and payroll requirements; Ensure that NPA policies are adhered to; Ensure that program adheres to statutory requirements related to all tax issues; Ensures that Finance Officer is updating the finance system on a daily basis; Monitoring budgets versus expenditure reports for multiple grants; Oversee the production of monthly management information pack (BVA, forecast, balance sheet accounts reconciliation); Management of cash flow requirements of the program; Assist program in project budget preparation; Facilitate all external audits for the program; Training of finance and non-finance staff; Ensures that there is a transparent cost allocation system in place; Supervise day to day functions of the Finance Officer.

Overall job purpose
Under the supervision of the Senior Researcher, the Researcher conducts various types of strategic and impact research, including desk and field research. S/he will carry out intensive policy research and analysis on human rights, transitional justice and conflict transformation and be expected to make presentations before various audiences. Duties and responsibilities

Project Officer: BIO-HUB Trust (BHT)

BIO-HUB Trust (BHT) seeks a suitable, qualified and motivated individual to fill in the vacancy of a Project Officer under the Programme for Resilience Project (PROGRESS), funded by UNDP through ZRBF (Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund). It is a three-year project with activities in Nyanga and Beitbridge districts and it started in August 2017.
Position overview
The Project Officer will be responsible for the coordination and management of activities in the project sites and will be based in Harare. The position entails reporting to the Director of BHT and the Team Leader of Progress Project monthly. The PROGRESS Project component for BIO-HUB Trust focuses on fodder crops, livestock improvement and non-timber forest products utilization tailored to the individual climatic and market characteristics of the target district. It also includes setting up innovative platforms for improved stakeholders’ engagement, innovations in market linkages for the NTFPs and addressing gender equality in all project activities. The suitable candidate should have a demonstrated capacity and success in community based work, resilience and non-timber forest products utilization, experience in value chain work and working with the private sector.

District work profiles
For Nyanga: The work will include promoting apiculture. Working with selected communities in understanding basic concepts of beekeeping, honey production, by-products production, processing and marketing through a well-defined value chain approach.
For Beitbridge: The work will include establishing viable value chains for NTFPs: (marula, mopane worm, etc.) and indigenous vegetables and also work to improve animal husbandry techniques through promoting fodder production for livestock improvement.
Key duties and responsibilities
The Project Officer is responsible for the overall management and delivery of BHT’s Progress Project activities and budget, timely reporting and regular monitoring and evaluation of activities.
The following are some of the key result areas:
Effective implementation of the planned and approved activities and strategies in the target communities; Extensive knowledge & implementation of Forestry NTFP issues, including legal and policy framework and ecological monitoring methodologies; Contribute to setting-up innovation platforms for the various NTFPs; Manage & coordinate research into community knowledge, views and perceptions regarding climate change, resilience and adaptive learning; Design, develop and provide necessary training for target communities with the field officers; Promote sustainable value chain development; Generate monthly and quarterly project reports on activities; Monitoring data using tools adopted by the PROGRESS Project and regularly review and document progress against indicators, lessons learned, and challenges encountered, in order to ensure the achievement of performance targets; Maintain good relations with project beneficiaries, partners and stakeholders; Monitor the performance of contractors to ensure that work is carried out to the required standards; Assist in the design and implementation of project surveys and studies as and when required.

Ensure that due diligence is followed in all project activities; Ensure value for money in regard to all transactions involving PROGRESS Project resources
Required qualifications and skills
Degree in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Environmental Science, Development studies or other related disciplines; Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the relevant subject areas above; Community leadership and mentoring skills: able to support, motivate and liaise effectively with villagers and community groups; Proactive in problem solving with good interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills; Ability in writing project proposals, & publications on the project; Sound cross-cultural, gender-awareness, and networking skills; Sound knowledge and understanding of climate change, NTFPs and fodder for animal husbandry; Ability to work independently and as a team leader in a multi-cultural environment; Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work assignments; Workshop facilitation and moderation for meetings
