The international network of Action Contre la Faim is represented in Paris, London, Madrid, New York and Montreal. Teams in the field combat hunger on four fronts: nutrition, food security, health, water and sanitation.
ACF is seeking to fill the vacancy of a Field Officer who will be based in Shamva for an 11 months contract.
Main duties
Mobilize beneficiaries, organize and carry out pre and post-harvest training sessions and workshops; Participate in assessments and surveys; Follow-up beneficiaries’ activities and collect monitoring data following agreed monitoring methodologies; Communicate the Organization’s activities and objectives to the partners; Reporting project progress and budget follow-up
Levels of studies and experience
Diploma/ Degree in Agriculture; 2-5 Experience in development work with an INGO, NGO or government department; Experience in rural community development work will be an advantage
Required skills
Strong knowledge on post-harvest management (pre & post-harvest practices that result in post-harvest losses a plus); Knowledge on hermetic storage is a plus; Good knowledge of techniques and agricultural production systems; Capacity to design training curriculum and modules adapted to small-scale farmers; Knowledge on nutrition is an advantage; Good knowledge of the intervention area and local customs; Ability to converse in vernacular language – Shona; Computer literacy Microsoft word and excel plus any analysis package is a plus

Purpose of the job
The Research, Evaluation and Reporting Assistant is responsible for providing technical and professional support to efficiently and effectively plan, design, assess, monitor and evaluate the performance of programs. He/she shall have the primary responsibility to verify and consolidate progress reports, assessment reports and data to ensure adequate monitoring and evaluation of program performance indicators.
Key responsibilities
Monitoring program performance indicators; Capacity building; Data quality assessments and reporting; Assessment and thematic studies; Resource mobilisation
Duties/tasks
Monitoring program performance indicators
Assist in developing a standardised monitoring and evaluation system to track project output, outcome and impact indicators; Ensure partner MER staff are supported and mentored developing and designing data collection tools, methodologies, actual data collection, data entry, data cleaning, analysis and reporting; Prepare and participate in partner program feedback processes
Capacity building
Assist the MER Coordinator in the training and mentoring of partner staff and volunteers to conduct field assessments, data analysis and presentation; Conduct partner monthly technical and support visits and ensure the project source data is complete, consistent and comprehensive; Support partner MER Officers in the collection of survey data, MSC stories and special studies
Data quality assessments and reporting
Ensure accuracy and timeliness of MER data and reports submitted internal and external; Review and consolidate partner monthly, quarterly, annual, assessment reports and information presented; Develop and maintain an updated project management information system, filing and database; Appropriately present and disseminate authorized monitoring and evaluation findings to internal and external stakeholders; Appropriately represent the organisation in district, provincial and national platforms
Minimum qualifications and experience
First degree in Health Promotion, development studies, social, or a relevant field; Diploma in monitoring and evaluation, and experience in USAID OVC an added advantage; A minimum of five years’ experience in community work, two of which should be in monitoring and evaluation and operational research; Excellent knowledge of research statistics and research methodology including skills in sampling techniques and use of computer software (SPSS, Excel, CSPro) for statistical and other relevant applications; Proven skills in critical thinking, assessment and analysis; strong competency in conceptualizing and designing strategic frameworks; Excellent communication, team building and training skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in and outside the Agency; ability to work effectively in multi-cultural environment; Ability to undertake regular field visits and interact with different stakeholders; Clean class four driver’s license

Duties & responsibilities
Mentoring of project partners
Plan, coordinate and hold regular meetings on child protection issues; provide necessary support to partners on identified child protection gaps; offer capacity building and technical support to all partners on child protection activities; work closely with the Department of Social Welfare in the implementation of the National Case Management System; Support and Supervise implementation of child protection activities at partner organization; Assist with the preparation of budgets for programme activities
Capacity building
Participate in training needs assessment and analysis; Plan for and conduct training activities for organisation partners on child protection issues; Train, mentor, supervise and support partner organizations in the implementation of all child protection related activities; Provide technical oversight over the implementation of all child protection activities; Participate in development of child protection resource materials; Distribute materials for on-going education of personnel at all levels; Provide information whenever necessary, to implementing partners and community cadres
Networking
Maintain good relations with the Child Protection partners, DSW, UNICEF and Social work institutions; Maintaining constant communication with key stakeholders through meetings; Networking with other groups and individuals that are implementing the OVC program including child protection and other services in the community; Facilitate sharing of information on child protection among stakeholders; Represent the organisation at various child protection forums/stakeholders meetings; Uphold the image of the organisation within the community; Advocate for the improvement or change of practices and policies that are a hindrance to the effectiveness of implementing child protection services; Facilitate linkages between organizations providing care and support to OVC
Monitoring and evaluation
Participate in developing monitoring tools for the OVC program; Ensure maintenance of accurate records; Coordinate and spearhead the development of appropriate child protection tools, and share with partners; Monitor adherence and implementation of child protection policies in partner organizations; Collect and analyse data pertaining to child protection activities; Present written reports to the Program Manager at stipulated times; Participate in activities to disseminate programme evaluation findings; Undertake necessary research
Minimum qualifications and experience
Advanced degree in Child Development, Psychology, Social Work or similar qualification; A minimum of five years’ experience in social work; Experience in working with communities and different stakeholders; Experience in training and facilitation in care and support issues; Good written and verbal communication skills including interpersonal skills A clean class four driver’s licence
