Billing Supervisor

As a working medical billing supervisor, it is your ultimate responsibility to ensure that medical claims and hospital bills are prepared and submitted to respective medical insurance and corporate clients according to set company performance standards. It is a position that is critical for the financial cycle of the organization and it requires attention to detail and experience with electronic and paper systems used in medical billing. It also calls for sound supervisory capabilities, leadership direction and management prowess.

KEY RESULT AREAS

Leading employees to accomplish all job objectives, inspiring confidence and motivation, clearly defining expectations, and maintaining personal effectiveness even under pressure and ensure the following key deliverables are met according to set organizational performance standards;

> Obtaining referrals and pre-authorizations as required for procedures.
> Checking eligibility and benefits verification for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
> Reviewing patient bills for accuracy and completeness, and obtaining any missing information.
> Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
> Updating billing software with rate changes.
> Ensure intradepartmental co-coordinative functions in keeping with all other departments for effective billing and communicates it to staff and monitoring effectiveness.
> Ensure delegation and coordination of tasks and duties in the billing department, using appropriate organizational/priority setting skills by establishing a system of communication to coordinate activities, assigning responsibilities for intradepartmental function, developing leadership skills of staff through delegation of responsibility, empowering staff to achieve their best professionally and guiding them through creative problem solving.
> Ensure the establishment and sustenance of a well-documented billing process and training program for the billing staff and ensure they receive regular trainings to keep the whole billing team abreast of current trends as well as reengineering the billing process to adapt to continual process improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in the following areas is preferred:
> Knowledge of medical insurance guidelines and other payer requirements and systems.
> Competent use of computer systems and software.
> Familiarity with biller coding.
> Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with medical insurance payers to resolve issues.
> Customer service skills for interacting with patients regarding medical claims and payments, including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
