Duties

Summary of duties

At least a Master’s degree in international development or any relevant social science; At least 10 years of progressive experience in resource mobilisation and fundraising; At least 5 years of experience in project implementation and monitoring; Experience in youth work, education and/or livelihoods-focused education programming; Proven track-record of fundraising for development projects; Traceable experience of writing successful funding proposals for small and big funding agencies.

Job Purpose
The position exists to assist in the payment of monthly salaries by effecting deductions and remit to the requisite authority and attend to salary queries.

Duties and responsibilities
• Receives personnel inventory and check against the payroll to confirm location of employees and status.
• Compiles and administer manual payment.
• Compiles & check master file changes on printed reports for accuracy and correctness.
• Submits the payroll report to the Human Resources Manager, in consultation with the Payroll Administrator for authorisation.
• Produces statutory and payroll stop order deductions reports and make necessary cheque requisition to Finance Department for payment.
• Ensures that all stop order payments to third parties are paid within the stipulated time.
• Produces, separates and distributes pay slips according to their pay points.
• Attends to salary queries; liaise with relevant parties to rectify any anomaly.
• Filing of all payroll documents at the end of each payroll run for easy retrieval.

Qualifications and Experience
• 2 A levels preferably including Accounting, Commerce or Economics
• National Diploma in Accounting
• Studying towards a professional qualification e.g. ZAAT, IAC, CIS, CIMA, ACCA (first stage)

Part time Translators Ndau and Shona

Part Time - Translators (Ndau x2 and Shona x2) based in Mutare/Harare
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Research Associate , the Translators will ensure that the study tools are translated from English to Shona (Strong understanding of dialects spoken in Manicaland essential) and Ndau in line with international standards for conduct of studies/surveys/research
Duties and Responsibilities
• Translates study tools from English to Shona /Ndau.
• Reads through material in one language, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into a second language, making sure to preserve the original meaning.
• Consults with subject matter experts and other colleagues to understand specialised concepts and translates them appropriately
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required skills, knowledge and abilities
• Good general knowledge of health terms and languages spoken in Manicaland.
• Fluency in English and any of the two languages: Shona and Ndau.
• Working knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures related to translating, editing, and proofreading.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with terminology and concepts in one or more related areas: family planning and maternal and child health.
• Detail-oriented, organized, thorough, accurate, and able to work quickly and steadily in a focused manner.
• Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently and in a team environment.
• Must possess computer skills, including MS Office, to be able to produce written translations and products
Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor of Arts Degree/ Honours Degree in Shona and/ Linguistics or equivalent.
• First language (English) familiarity with any two of the languages of interest (Shona and Ndau) is a must.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional proficiency (translation, transcription, interpretation and editing) in one or more of the required languages working in the field of health.
• Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the job.
• Exposure to Health / Social Science development work in Manicaland communities is preferred.
• Experience in research an added advantage.

Job Purpose

The position exists to provide professional legal advice to the Authority to facilitate its business operations.

Duties and responsibilities

• Ensures that CAAZ fully complies with the statutes of the organisation.
• Represents, defends the interests of the CAAZ in courts of law with the help of the company lawyers.
• Renders legal advice to various directorates and departments of CAAZ to ensure that they transact business within local and international laws.
• Prepares contracts and ensuring execution of legal instruments to ensure that CAAZ interests are protected at all times.
• Ensures ratification of International Civil Aviation Conventions and agreements to which the Government of Zimbabwe becomes a signatory.
• Accurately adopting the International Civil Aviation Conventions and Agreements and presenting to the Corporate Secretary who in turn presents it to the Minister for ratification to ensure that national interests are protected.
• Provides legal services in Bilateral Air Services agreements (BASA) consultations to ensure that Zimbabwe’s interests are protected.
• Provides legal advice in the Contracting Process and ensuring full compliance with agreed policies, procedures and regulations.
• Draws up contracts for all aspects of operations in the CAAZ to ensure that the authority has adequate legal protection at all times.
• Contributes to the development of Terms of Reference for consultants and service providers to ensure that CAAZ receives value for money.
• Provides the Board and other Committees with secretarial services as directed by the Corporate Secretary.
• Keeps abreast with developments in the industry regarding changes in legislation in order to give relevant advice to CAAZ management.


Qualifications and Experience
• A University degree in Law from a recognised and reputable University
• Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice
• Additional qualifications in air Law will be and added advantage
• 6 years’ experience in legal practice, 3 years of which would be at supervisory level


Skills and Competences
• Thorough knowledge of ICAO Standards and recommended practices
• Should have broad organisational awareness
• Thorough knowledge of international and regional civil aviation organisations
• Must have s high level of vigilance and sensitivity to aviation security and safety issues
