Continuous Quality Improvement Officer

Responsibilities

Background
University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences – Clinical Trials Research Centre (UZCHS-CTRC) on behalf of I-TECH (International Training and Education Center for Health) is seeking highly qualified and experienced applicants to fill the position of Data Analyst. I-TECH's activities occur primarily in the technical areas of health system strengthening; health workforce development; operations research and evaluation; prevention, care and treatment of infectious diseases. I-TECH is funded by PEPFAR through Center for Disease Control to implement HIV & TB treatment and care services in five Zimbabwean provinces in support of the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC). The contract of employment will terminate on 30 September 2019 and is renewable subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance.
Responsibilities
Working closely with strategic information and ICT staff in ensuring that all datasets are cleaned, merged and adequately prepared for meaningful analysis and interpretation; Collating and cataloguing all I-TECH input, process and outcome data contained in the central repository and conducting rigorous analysis of such data to enable evidence-based programming and guide implementation choices and decisions and ensuring that the collated data is clean, up-to-date and in an analyzable format; Preparing consolidated datasets for analysis, merging data from multiple sources to improve the quality of inferences made and insights drawn from data; Preparing presentations for various meetings with the following parties: CDC, MoHCC, Sub-partners, internal staff and all other external entities as required; Executing routine and ad hoc statistical plans, seeking to answer questions raised on program performance using various data types including but not limited to: input, process, output and program outcome data; Translating results of analyses into plain English and drawing tangible conclusions and recommendations to inform program implementation; Analysis of iPITC datasets and populating results onto a monitoring dashboard on a weekly basis; Manipulating and merging multiple datasets to facilitate trend analyses and robust interrogation of the contribution of specific inputs to key outcomes over time; Designing, developing and updating dashboards used to visualize performance data by facility, district and provinces; Collaborating with team members, providing technical oversight in data analysis activities associated with manuscript and abstract preparation as well as drafting of indicator narratives; Spearheading the development of data collection protocols, SOPs and instruments for use in gathering data to answer key program questions and operational research activities; Preparing all protocol documents for submission to local and international Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and ensuring that all authorization and approvals are up-to-date; Drafting and consolidating program activity reports to various stakeholders and partners; Developing and tracking data quality metrics and indicators to evaluate the quality of data reported and used to make program decisions; Responsible for implementing data quality improvement and assurance processes including; routine DQA activities and, continuous quality improvement projects around specific core indicators; Preparing SOPs and training materials for staff around data usage and analysis, as well as data quality improvement and assurance; Providing direct supervision to the Data Officer on a day to day basis on the management, cleaning, analysis and reporting of all iPITC process and outcome data; Performing any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Advanced Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology or quantitative data science;
Minimum of 5 years working experience managing, analyzing and reporting, health related program data and information;
Experience working with DHIS2 data and excellent computer skills including but not limited to, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, including pivot-tables, formatting, statistical functions and formulas;
Strong data management and quantitative data analytical skills working with large amounts, including ability to run SQL queries;
Proficiency in at least one statistical software package e.g. STATA, SAS, R or SPSS is a must;
Excellent interpersonal communication, report writing and presentation skills, including proficiency in English and one or more of the local languages;

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Valid Nursing qualification with 3-5 years’ hands-on experience in clinical management of HIV in an Opportunistic Infections (OI) clinic setting at district, provincial or central hospital level within MoHCC structures or other implementing partners; Relevant training in HIV Clinical Management e.g. Counselling, HIV Integrated Training, Clinical Mentorship, Rapid HIV Testing, Advanced HIV Management, HIV & TB Monitoring and Evaluation; Knowledge and experience in training and conducting meetings and demonstrable skills in data analysis, program coordination and evaluation and M&E; Ability and willingness to travel extensively within and outside the district; Excellent leadership, report writing, presentation and interpersonal communication skills with fluency in English and/ or Shona and Ndebele; Good Computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Power point; NGO/CBO working experience will be an added advantage.

Mercy Corps puts resilience at core of its strategy to contribute to the wellbeing of Zimbabweans by building communities’ capacities and strengthening systems and institutions.
Mercy Corps Zimbabwe is currently seeking applications from qualified and experienced candidates for a Resilience Advisor. The Resilience Advisor for the Resilience Knowledge Hub under the Zimbabwe Resilience Building Fund (ZRBF) will be responsible for a variety of technical aspects of RKH including resilience approaches and methodologies, resilience thinking operationalization, institutional capacity building, and contributing to research and knowledge management
The Resilience Advisor will support the identification of resilience capacity and methodological gaps within ZBRF stakeholders and will lead the development of resilience training curricula, resilience tools kits & other materials to support those stakeholders to address those gaps showing measurable improvement. S/he will build on what is working within stakeholder organizations and share experiences across multiple stakeholders to facilitate cross-learning. In addition, this position will support cascading of resilience learning through a training-of-trainers approach. All of these Resilience Advisor’s activities and interventions must be evidence-based and be able to demonstrate measurable effectiveness and value for money.
Key Activities for the advisor:
With support from other Resilience Knowledge Hub members, lead the development of a capacity building plan for ZBRF stakeholders and implement that plan; Identify technical gaps in integrating resilience thinking into program design and implementation among ZBRF partners; Lead the development, refinement and contextualization of resilience training curriculum targeting ZBRF partners to improve both technical and operational quality of resilience programming; Lead the documentation, measurement of progress and sharing of best practices of the resilience capacity building initiatives to ensure quality program and knowledge sharing; Collaborate with other Resilience Knowledge Hub members in developing innovative mechanisms to collect and share program learnings in various forums; Provide technical guidance to partners to ensure methodological soundness of resilience approaches for operational strategies, interventions, advocacy or any other needed context; Provide resilience technical assistance to ZBRF partners as part of informed applied research studies on the impact of resilience building efforts to achieve ZRBF objectives; Identify and test innovative tools and methodologies to expand capabilities in the resilience measurement space to provide new insights, reduce costs, or improve accuracy of our research
Qualifications, skills and experience:
Advanced degree in a resilience related field;
At least 7 years of relevant or associated experience applying resilience concepts, tools, approaches and methodologies in programming in Zimbabwe or sub-Sahara Africa;
At least 7 years of relevant or associated experience in multiple of the following technical aspects of RKH including research, facilitating learning, institutional capacity building;
Proven experience in developing training materials and curriculum using adult-learning principles;
Excellent communication skills, including a sound ability to adapt training materials for different audiences & cultural contexts;
Strong writing skills, including past experience generating substantive written products; excellent verbal communication skills.
Fluency in Shona and/or Ndebele highly desirable;
Willing to undertake significant in country travel to support training and capacity building; Must be adaptable to and comfortable with shifting priorities.

Trains the community members, Village Health Workers and district/field health personnel to assess, plan for, and provide needed health and related services, like home care, maternal and childcare, nutrition and other subjects related to individual and community welfare.
Conduct refresher training for Health workers on nutrition education, use of anthropocentric measurements to determine the admission and discharge criteria and follow-up of patients in the programme and after discharge.
Knowledge and skills
-Degree in Nutrition, Nursing, Public Health, Nursing or Development studies with experience in public health/nutrition programming.
-Knowledge of cash programming and livelihoods programming is an added advantage

Purpose of the position
To work closely with the Grants Implementation Team Leader and the Ministry of Health & Child Care, and other partners in providing technical support, mentoring and monitoring nutrition project activities in the emergency response to acute malnutrition project, as well as managing project staff in the Project.
Major Accountabilities/Responsibilities
1.Project Coordination and monitoring and evaluation
Plan and organize Nutrition project set up in prioritized areas and work with MoH officials to ensure all aspects of project are understood, implemented and documented appropriately according to protocols.
Investigate potential project areas for expansion and recommend appropriate interventions.
Prepare accurate and timely technical reports and monthly reports.
Facilitate MoH staffs at provincial/district/community levels (as appropriate) to fully participate in decision-making regarding project activities.
2.Integrate nutrition activities with other health interventions
3.Represent World Vision at MoH, (and related government fora), UN and other partner agencies during health and nutrition related coordination interventions
4.Network and cultivate linkages with provincial and district partners to co-ordinate functions, share lessons learned and develop common nutrition projects.
