SHE Officer
The incumbent will be reporting to the Risk Officer.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB,
To ensure the implementation of measures that guard against occurrence of work place accidents and damage to the environment arising from the organisation's operations and ensuring compliance with relevant legal and other requirements. To ensure the implementation of safety, health and environmental policies, systems, procedures and standards and promote best practice and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
JOB DESCRIPTION

• Ensuring compliance with SHE legal and other requirements. 
• Facilitate suitable, health and environmental training programmes such as induction and other SHE training in liaison with the human resources department.
• Developing, implementing and reviewing safety health and environmental management systems. 
• Ensuring the use of personal protective clothing and equipment provided for the safety and health of employees. 
• Coordinating the investigation of all SHE audits and ensures implementation of corrective and preventive actions arising them-from. 
• Monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe work situations and develop corrective measures.
• Carrying out workplace inspections and take appropriate action to ensure compliance with workplace safety standards. 
• Investigate accidents and injuries that occur in the workplace and make appropriate recommendations. 
• Develop and implement disaster preparedness plan for the institution

PERSON SPECIFICATION
• 5 GCE Ordinary level including English and Mathematics 
• Advanced level Geography, Maths, Chemist Biology. 
• Degree in SHE related field; 
• Occupational health & Safety qualification such as SHATCO or OSHMAC 1 and 2
• At least three years' experience as a Safety Health and Environmental officer 
• Must be computer literate, honest and capable to work under minimum supervision
• Must be innovative and possess excellent communication and collaborative skills
• Possession of ISO 14001 and OSHSAS 18001 is an advantage
